As AAA games push the frontiers of rich, expansive game worlds, the demand for high-quality Art assets has grown exponentially, especially when it comes to outsourcing studios. At Lakshya Digital, we’re proud to be at the forefront of end-to-end Game Art production. One significant aspect of the services we offer is World building for games.
This year, our dedicated R&D and Art teams across different studios came together to create Eikyu̅, a stunning new environment using Unreal Engine 5.
We started this project with the goal to further explore Unreal Engine 5’s latest features while experimenting with cutting-edge techniques in environment art. Eikyu̅ is the result of the incredible collaborative effort of our team to showcase our ability in environment creation for games.
Watch the Eikyu̅ video here:
A quick overview of the key features and tools we used to bring Eikyu̅ to life:
- Procedural Content Generation (PCG) was utilized to procedurally populate foliage, rocks, and landscape elements.
- GAEA was used to sculpt high-quality terrain, creating multiple versions of height maps for enhanced detail.
- Modular Kit-bashing Techniques allowed us to create a high-quality temple environment, complete with a roof tile kit and modular assets for staircases and other architectural details.
- Procedural Modeling with Houdini enabled the creation of customizable procedural bridges, which were then imported into Unreal Engine 5 using HAD tools for intricate structure generation.
- Speed Tree facilitated the creation of realistic foliage with custom trunk base meshes.
- Advanced Shader Techniques were employed to achieve a high level of visual fidelity, utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s robust shading system.
- Nanite and Lumen were implemented to optimize mesh workflows and achieve realistic lighting effects, controlling sunlight color and intensity, light scattering, and creating atmospheric volumetric clouds.
- World Partition and Packed Level Instancing were used to manage the large-scale environment, allowing for seamless assembly of the temple structure with modular assets like walls, roofs, and support beams.
