With a new, original IP in the works, Bungie was looking to hand off more and more of their ongoing Destiny 2 games as a service duties to a capable, cost-effective development partner who could fully replicate their success at scale without a drop in quality. Bungie had many trepidations but was especially concerned with security for their IP and proprietary engine technology, process adoption, i.e., doing things the Bungie way, and maintaining their vision for the highest quality art assets.
To Bungie, trust was the key factor in overcoming their apprehension on all fronts. They wanted to test the waters with one artist initially, who would work on integration and final look of assets in game, to see how things would go. Lakshya obliged by carefully selecting a solid artist on whom we could build and scale a team to meet all the client’s needs. It took our chosen artist less than a couple of weeks to ramp up on their engine, their processes, and integrate with their team.
Less than 3 months into the engagement, Bungie requested to expand in both team size and expertise. Less than a year into the relationship we will have scaled the team to 15 strong, and we are just getting started.
In addition to integration tasks for armor sets, we’ve expanded into hard surface integration with props and vehicles, and Bungie has requested content creation including 2D icons, heads and weapons.
Bungie has given many accolades and constantly heaps praise on the work the team is doing. We have exceeded the client’s expectations for what we could accomplish together. With Lakshya, Bungie can focus on new horizons knowing that Destiny 2 is in the best of hands.
Cyanide Studios, based out of Paris, France, was in the final stages of completing the much anticipated “WEREWOLF: The Apocalypse” when they realized they could not complete four of the remaining levels. Cyanide didn’t have the time to staff more team members and was clearly in a bind.
Cyanide needed a partner who could hit the ground running to complete existing levels, fix bugs, and polish content without burdening their already stretched leadership team. They needed experienced artists with expert knowledge of Unreal and game development to help ship their game.
Utilizing our creative leadership team in the UK and the US, Lakshya assembled a team of world-building, lighting, and VFX artists and leads who could collaborate with our clients in real-time to quickly internalize the game’s creative direction and begin completing levels for their project.
The Lakshya team successfully completed all four of their remaining levels, to visual targets and technical specifications, seamlessly integrated with the rest of the game, without impacting their internal team’s ability to focus on their work.
Cyanide Studio continues to be a valued partner of Lakshya Digital.
