Lakshya at IICS- Bridging the gap between Academia and the Gaming Industry

The Indian Institute of Creative Skills (IICS) recently hosted us for a vibrant exchange on careers in the dynamic world of game development and the wider AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming & Comics) sector. The session, “Career in Games,” was led by three of our in-house experts and reflected one of our core commitments at Lakshya — building stronger bridges between industry and academia.

Mayank Rajpoot, Studio Head at Lakshya Pune, set the tone with a keynote that highlighted the booming opportunities in the video game industry globally and discussed what the future holds for aspiring professionals. Abhinandan Ghosh, Art Director at Lakshya, walked students through the many facets of game art – from 2D and 3D to animation, while also showcasing highlights from our diverse portfolio. Pradeep Kumar, Associate Art Director and Chief Expert for WorldSkills International introduced students to Lakshya’s inGame Academy and spotlighted the impressive student portfolio we’ve been nurturing.

Throughout the event, we engaged with students on numerous topics, exploring diverse roles in game development and design, sharing practical tips for building compelling portfolios, and challenging industry stereotypes. The session served as a powerful reminder of what is possible when knowledge is shared openly and authentically.

The student engagement exceeded our expectations, with thoughtful questions and genuine enthusiasm. These interactions reinforced our commitment to fostering talent and building meaningful connections between education and industry practice.

We look forward to continuing our educational outreach initiatives and supporting the next generation of game development professionals in their journey toward rewarding careers in this exciting field.
